U9 Super Mustangs & U11 Teams - Field Marshalls Required:
As part of Big Country Soccer Association’s commitment to creating a positive environment for players, referees, and spectators, the U9 Super Mustangs and all U11 teams are required to provide a parent volunteer to act as a Field Marshall at every game. This role is to rotate among team parents throughout the season. The Field Marshall will be identified by wearing an armband and is responsible for supporting our younger “mini referees,” monitoring sideline behaviour, and addressing any inappropriate conduct from spectators to help ensure a safe, respectful atmosphere for everyone involved.

Tournament Teams (U9 Super Mustangs, U11, U13):
We’re excited for our competitive Tournament Teams for U9, U11, and U13 players this year! Tryouts have been completed, and teams have been announced. A parent meeting and apparel fitting will be hosted soon—those on these teams will receive an email with details shortly.

U5 Pilot Program - FULL with waitlist!
The U5 program is now FULL, and a waitlist is in place. Thank you to all families who registered! If spots become available, we will reach out to those on the waitlist.

U7 & U9 Registration Cap:
Registration for U7 and U9 will be capped at the first 80 players per group. No exceptions will be made once the cap is reached.

U5 / U7 / U9 Parent’s Meeting:
A U5 / U7 / U9 Pre-Season Parent’s Meeting will take place on April 16th, 2025, at Ecole Olds Elementary School. An email will be circulated prior, announcing times for each group and to serve as a reminder.

Coaches NEEDED for Teams to Form!

We are still in need of volunteer coaches to ensure our teams can take the field this season. Without enough coaches, these teams may not be able to run:

  • U5 - Need 1 more coach
  • U7 - Need 6 more coaches
  • U9 - Need 2 more coaches
  • U11 - Need 3 more coaches
  • U17 - Need 1 more coach

No experience? No problem! We provide resources and support to help you succeed. If you're interested:

  • All coaches must register through our online system, RAMP, as staff.
  • A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector is mandatory and must be provided prior to the season commencing. Olds Minor Soccer will supply you with a letter to take to the RCMP so you may have this done for FREE of charge.
  • The "Rule of Two," governed by Big Country Soccer and the Alberta Soccer Association, requires two parents per team to ensure a safe and supportive environment for our young players.
  • We are grateful for your dedication and support in shaping the future of our athletes!

Volunteers: Our programs continue to grow, and so does the need for support! If you’d like to help in any capacity, please contact us at omscpresident@gmail.com

Field Marshalls for U9 Super Mustangs & U11 Teams - Required by Big Country Soccer Association:

This year, Field Marshalls will be required at the U9 Super Mustangs and the U11 team games to help ensure a positive and safe environment for players, coaches, and spectators. Field Marshalls will assist in maintaining sideline behaviour, supporting referees (as they are typically of younger age - known as trained “Mini Refs”), and addressing any concerns that arise during the match. Each team will be responsible for providing a volunteer for this role on a rotating basis. More details on responsibilities and expectations will be shared when we receive information from Big Country, and as we approach the season.

Team Managers Required - U11 to U19 Teams:

Team Managers will be required for all U11 to U19 teams this season. This parent volunteer role is essential in supporting coaches by coordinating minor team logistics, schedule changes, and ensuring clear communication between the team, coaches, and parents. Team Managers will simply help to keep the team organized! If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please email the club for more information or reach out to your team's coach when assigned.

Important Dates:

  • April 6, 2025: Registration Closes
  • April 16, 2025: U5 / U7 / U9 Parent Meeting

We’re excited to kick off the 2025 soccer season and anticipate beginning the week of April 21st with our first practices. However, this start date is dependent on weather conditions, field readiness, and approval from the Town of Olds for field use. We appreciate your patience and as we monitor these factors, and we will continue to provide updates as we progress. Stay tuned for further communications as we get closer to the season.

FEBRUARY 11, 2025 - CORRESPONDENCE EMAIL:

Hello Soccer Families!

The countdown is on! Registration for the U9 Super Mustangs and the 2025 Tournament Teams closes in just over 3 weeks, with the final deadline on March 6, 2025! Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity for your player to take their game to the next level. We’re offering competitive tryouts for U9, U11, U13, and U15 age groups. Here’s everything you need to know:

U9 Super Mustangs - New Competitive League!

For the first time ever, we’re offering U9 players the chance to compete in a newly established U9 competitive league within Big Country Soccer Association. This opportunity is available to all of Central Alberta, so tell your friends!

  • Successful candidates will join the U9 Super Mustangs team and compete in Big Country Soccer Association’s new U9 district during the regular season. For a list of potential areas that this team may play in, please visit Big Country’s website, at: https://www.bigcountrysa.com/content/member-towns-and-programs

  • If selected after tryouts, players will need to complete a separate registration and pay a $150 season fee.

U11, U13, and U15 Tournament Teams

For those looking for advanced, highly competitive soccer, our U11, U13, and U15 Tournament Teams are the perfect fit. These teams compete in Tiers 2 or 3, offering a more competitive environment compared to regular season teams, which generally play in Tier 4. This opportunity is also available to all of Central Alberta, so tell your friends!

  • Compete in Tiers 2 & 3: Take your game to the next level and compete in a highly competitive soccer environment.

  • Full Program! Includes 2 weekly practices in Olds, competitive exhibition games, and up to 3 competitive tournaments. Last year, teams competed in tournaments in Airdrie, Red Deer, and Lethbridge - one per month in May, June and July.

  • Players also receive a full uniform kit, including an Olds Mustangs soccer jersey, shorts, and socks, and an Olds Mustangs track suit with pants and jacket. Last year’s tracksuit brand was PUMA; this year, we’re checking out Adidas!

  • Tournaments are FUN! Last year, our teams had an amazing time competing across Alberta and some came home with some pretty sweet hardware!

  • The all-inclusive fee covers insurance and registration, tournaments, practices, exhibition games and full uniforms—everything you need for an awesome soccer experience! Players on the Tournament Teams typically play more games throughout the season compared to regular season teams. Each tournament includes a minimum of 3 games, and with additional exhibition matches, players can expect to play more than the typical 8 assigned games in a regular season.

  • The all-inclusive fee for U11 is $470, for U13 is $475, and for U15 is $485.
