Welcome to the exciting world of competitive soccer with our 2024 Season Tournament Teams for U11, U13, and U15 age groups! This program offers a unique blend of skills development, teamwork, and competitive play. With an inclusive fee structure covering essentials like Olds Minor Soccer Club registration dues, weekly practices, competitive tournaments, exhibition games, and a stylish uniform set, players are set for an exciting experience. The registration process opens on February 1, 2024, and closes on March 14, 2024, with tryouts scheduled on March 16 and 23, 2024, at Zion Church gymnasium in Didsbury, AB.

Please note that players selected for the Tournament Team will exclusively participate on that team throughout the season and will not have additional involvement on a regular season team. This ensures a focused and dedicated commitment to each Tournament Team. Fees:             

U11                 $430 per player                      
U13                 $440 per player
U15                 $450 per player
All above:        $25 Non-Refundable Tryout Fee

 

Includes:

  • Olds Minor Soccer Club (OMSC) registration fee, which varies depending on age group. (Players that make the Tournament Team must register with OMSC to participate.)

  • 2 weekly practices in Olds

  • 2 - 3 competitive tournaments

  • Arranged exhibition games

  • Keepsake jersey, shorts, socks and track-suit

 Any other expenses, including expenses related to travel and/or accommodations, are not included.

 

Registration Process:

  • Registration for the Tournament Team(s) opens on February 1, 2024 and closes on March 14, 2024. Registration is open to all of Central Alberta.

  • Players that wish to try out for the Tournament Team must register and pay a non-refundable $25 tryout fee via the OMSC website, which may be found, at: http://OldsMinorSoccerClub.rampregistrations.com

  • If selected for the tournament team, players will exclusively participate on that team throughout the season and will not have additional involvement on a regular season team.

  • Players that make the Tournament Team will be required to register with OMSC (registration closes in April, 2024) and pay their age-appropriate dues accordingly.

    • U11 OMSC registration fee is $145

    • U13 OMSC registration fee is $155

    • U15 OMSC registration fee is $165

  • The remainder of fees will be due payable to the Team Manager of the Tournament Team of which the player has made. This must be paid in full, prior to the Tournament Team season (1st practice) commencing.


Example:
(using a U13 player that has paid the $25 tryout fee and has made the team):

U13 OMSC regular season player registration fee:    $155.00

U13 Tournament Team fee:                                       -$440.00

Player is selected on Tournament Team:                  * $285.00 outstanding

* The outstanding balance must be paid to the Tournament Team Manager prior to the season/ 1st practice commencing. Managers will communicate with you prior to then.

 

Tryout Structure: 

Teams will be formed via tryouts which will take place at the Zion Church gymnasium, 802 Hwy 582, Didsbury, AB. There will be 2 tryouts per team level (U11, U13, and U15). 

Tryouts will take place: 

  • March 16, 2024:         9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. - U9 Players seeking to compete in the U11 regular season Try-outs - Round 1 (this is NOT a tournament team - see Olds Minor Soccer Club : Website by RAMP InterActive)

    10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - U11 Tournament Team Try-outs - Round 1

    11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - U13 Tournament Team Try-outs - Round 1

    12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. - U15 Tournament Team Try-outs - Round 1

     

  • March 23, 2024:         9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. - U9 Players seeking to compete in the U11 regular season Try-outs - Final Round (this is NOT a tournament team - see Olds Minor Soccer Club : Website by RAMP InterActive)

    10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - U11 Tournament Team Try-outs - Final Round

    11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - U13 Tournament Team Try-outs - Final Round

    12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. - U15 Tournament Team Try-outs - Final Round

     

Evaluation Criteria: 

  • Skills Assessment: Players showcase their technical abilities, such as ball control, passing, and shooting.

  • Physical Fitness: Coaches evaluate players' overall fitness; speed, agility, and endurance.

  • Tactical Understanding: Understanding of game strategies and decision-making on the field is assessed.

  • Teamwork and Communication: Interaction with teammates, communication, and collaborative skills are observed.

  • Attitude and Sportsmanship: Coaches assess players' behaviour, attitude, and sportsmanship during tryouts.

  • Scrimmages and Drills: Game situations and specific drills are used to evaluate players' application of skills.

  • Previous Experience: Past soccer experience and performance may influence selection decisions.

  • Coach's Evaluation: Coaches use their expertise to make subjective assessments based on observations.

  • Consistency: Consistent performance across various aspects of the game is taken into account.

  • Potential and Improvement: A player's potential for growth and ability to improve is taken into consideration.

 

Notification of Selection: 

Players chosen for a Tournament Team will receive notification of their selection within three days after the last tryout.

 

Tournaments for Consideration:

Tournament Teams are encouraged to explore the following Alberta-based tournaments for consideration: Airdrie, Lethbridge, Edmonton, Camrose, Spruce Grove, and Calgary. While these events have been researched and appear to be a good fit, they are suggestions only, and each team is welcome to decide on any Alberta-based tournaments that align best with their preferences/goals.

 

Important Note:

The successful launch of the competitive Tournament Teams are contingent upon securing a sufficient number of players for each division. If an adequate number of players is not secured for any one or all the teams (U11, U13, U15), the formation of the tournament team(s) will not proceed.
